This Privacy Policy explains how the Masjidtime apps handle information. Masjidtime is a service that connects mosques in Bangladesh with their communities, sharing prayer (Jamat) times, notices, and events. It covers both the Masjidtime worshipper app and the Masjidtime Admin app.
Our approach to your privacy
We collect as little information as possible. The worshipper app does not require you to create an account or sign in. We do not sell your data, we do not share it with advertisers, and we do not use it for any purpose other than running the service.
Information the worshipper app collects
- A device identifier: When you first open the app, it generates a random identifier for your device. This is how the app remembers which mosques you have joined. It is not linked to your name or identity.
- Mosque enrollments and preferences: Which mosques you have joined and your reminder settings, so the app can show the right prayer times and send the reminders you choose.
- Push notification token: A token from Apple or Google that lets us deliver prayer reminders, notices, and event alerts to your device.
- Optional contact details: If you choose, you may add a display name and contact email. These are optional and only used for support.
- Basic technical information: App version and device operating system, used to help with support and troubleshooting.
Location and the Qibla compass
The Qibla compass uses your device location to calculate the direction of prayer. This location is used only on your device and is never sent to our servers or shared with anyone. Location is requested only when you open the Qibla screen.
Information the admin app collects
Mosque administrators sign in with an email and password. For administrator accounts, we store the administrator's name, email address, and phone number to operate the account and the mosque's listing. Passwords are stored only in a securely hashed form and are never readable by us.
How information is used
- To deliver prayer reminders, notices, and event notifications you have signed up for.
- To show prayer times and information for the mosques you have joined.
- To operate mosque administrator accounts.
- To respond to support requests.
Sharing of information
We use trusted service providers to run the service, including cloud hosting and push notification delivery (Apple Push Notification service and Firebase Cloud Messaging). These providers process information only to deliver the service. We do not sell or rent your information to any third party, and we do not use it for advertising.
Your choices and control
- You can leave any mosque at any time within the app.
- You can turn reminders on or off, per mosque or globally.
- You can use the "Delete all my data" option in Settings to remove your device record from our servers.
- You can manage notification and location permissions in your device settings.
Data retention
We keep information only as long as needed to provide the service. Deleted content is retained for a limited period for backup and recovery, after which it is removed.
Children's privacy
The apps are intended for a general audience and do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the date at the top of this page.
